Artificial
Intelligence

Illustration related to artificial intelligence research

We understand artificial intelligence as a creative tool: a medium that transforms design, restructures processes, and raises questions that we approach with a critical perspective. As an interdisciplinary team, we explore how AI can be used and what changes it brings to media, music, culture, and society.

THE RIGHT TEAM FOR THE JOB

For us as a creative and transfer institute, this is where the opportunity emerges: to rethink creative processes, shape collaboration between humans and machines, and set impulses for the education and professional practice of tomorrow. Through our projects, we make visible how AI permeates creative processes and why it is important to approach this transformation critically, responsibly, and collaboratively. We combine scientific perspectives with design practice and use projects, workshops, and cooperation formats to make the potential of AI not only visible but also tangible. Our close connections to industry partners, universities, and creative professionals ensure that our projects do not remain in the lab - but have real impact: in practical workflows, in teaching, and in new forms of digital design.

Critical questions as a driver of our research
With technological progress come new challenges: Who owns an AI-generated image? How is authorship changing? What responsibilities do designers carry when working with machine creativity? These questions are at the core of our work. Together with partners from science, industry, and culture, we develop responses - critical, discursive, and grounded in practice.
Research at the intersection of technology and culture
We explore and test how AI can be integrated into creative processes and develop tools that are directly applicable. Our projects range from AI-generated sound and visual experiences to new forms of interactive media design. Alongside practical applications, we also provide education and critical insights into the implications that come with the rise and use of AI tools.
Transferring knowledge into creative practice
Our goal is to make AI accessible, understandable, and applicable for the cultural and creative industries. This leads to formats in which AI is not only explained but also experienced as part of our everyday reality. Through our work, we aim to strengthen a conscious and responsible approach to AI and to support people in preparing for the changing workflows of tomorrow.
Quote In my opinion, the interplay between human creativity and artificial intelligence is the key skill of the future.
