Where should the speaker be placed?

Marcel Schechter showed 30 participants how they can dramatically improve their listening conditions and reliably evaluate their mixes, even in the critical bass range, using an inexpensive measuring microphone and free software. It is important to note that the mix must not only sound good in your own room, but also work under a wide variety of listening conditions. This is precisely why controlled listening conditions are immensely important in audio production.

The key to using the tools presented correctly is, of course, know-how: where do I position the speakers in a room, where should the first absorbers and diffusers go, and how can I display the measurement results so that I can see the crucial information directly? This not only improves the university control room or home studio, but also allows an effective listening room to be set up for mobile recordings.

Over 30 participants from TH OWL, HfM Detmold, and the University of Paderborn learned how space and loudspeakers interact with each other.
